Revolutionising Ocean Research with UEA: Introducing Caravela

We’re proud to have partnered with the University of East Anglia (UEA) to develop Caravela – a pioneering uncrewed surface vessel (USV) designed to deploy Seagliders into some of the most remote and challenging parts of the ocean.

Wave and solar-powered, Caravela not only enables autonomous glider deployment but also collects critical meteorological and oceanographic data along the way. Once deployed, the Seagliders dive to depths of up to 1,000 metres, contributing to vital climate-focused research.

This innovative collaboration marks a significant step forward in safe, efficient, and sustainable ocean exploration, opening new possibilities for research in harsh environments such as the Antarctic.
